Our world would be wonderful if we lived the way of the Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead is one of the most well known bands ever. Lead singer Jerry Garcia can be identified by young and old because of his unique look. In the 1960’s the Dead became a peace, understanding, and love selling band, through their music, messages, causes, and even their CD packaging. They had people that would follow them from town to town just listening to their music and watching them play. Deadheads would quit their jobs and take the summer off to tour with the band. The Dead shows were a place where people could let go of their inhibitions.

There was no social classes at the show. Money didn’t matter. They all just celebrated life and love. There was a lot of marijuana smoked at the shows. People danced and sung and just let go. To this day you can still hear their music played on the radio. Some of their most famous are “Casey Jones”, “Touch of Grey” and “Truckin”. They are often shown as only being pot smoking hippies. This is not true. They wanted nothing more than for there to be peace and for everyone to love one another. There are not many bands or musicians that have love, peace, happiness, and understanding as their motto.

This have never been considered cool for grown men to endorse. But they did it anyway because they truly believed that we could all live on the planet and get along with each other and live in harmony. There music is entrancing and memorable. There message is as well. If we could all get along and live the way that the Grateful Dead envisioned we would be a much happier society without social stigmas or divisions in class. The Grateful Dead had a positive message that will stand the test of time. They are one of the greatest bands ever.
